One of the main reason why secular democracy is wrong is - it do not think about morality or human highness or dignity. It ignores all moral values and consider anything "OK" if majority votes for a law. Same happened in Germany, where prostitutes are legal workers and the 'task' is consider as one of the legal job.

The US Embassy, on June 26, 2011, issues a press release that they have hosted gays and lesbians advocacy event named "GLBT Pride Celebration". Following statement is very important and actually represent the definition of human rights and who are considered extremist by US:

"This gathering demonstrated continued U.S. Embassy support for human rights, including LGBT rights, in Pakistan at a time when those rights are increasingly under attack from extremist elements throughout Pakistani society."

So if "extremist elements" are hitting you by rejecting these "rights", they are doing extremely well. And thanks for making us more in-love with these extremist elements/Muslims who are fighting for our actual values.

You in US have highly degraded values, your nation is getting more empty each passing day, your psychos are increasing, your rate of suicides are increasing each year. You have failed to provide higher objective to your citizens. Rather than spreading this dust in other nations, think about your own people. What is Education

Our current definition of education is associated with number and level of degrees one posses, but in fact, Any person is educated who has learned to get whatever he wants in life without violating the rights of others. Education consists, not so much of knowledge, but of knowledge effectively and persistently APPLIED. And ideally, an educated man should also be a man of character.

Different Terms for God and What it Means for a Muslim

Ever wonder how new ideas come to mind? You were in a problem for couple of days and suddenly you got the solution, with no effort? Some authors who written on psychology of success calls it Infinite Intelligence, a power that send the message in special signals in our sub concious mind.

There is a methodology known as Meditation in which a person (normally a trained expert) communicate to spirits. These are the people's spirits who are no more in 'this side of' world. A meditator solves his/her or others problems using meditation. These spirits are considered under the light of God. Its common in Christians. A meditator is normally a Pastor of Spiritualist Church. Though it is not necessary, anyone can be a meditator who has learned the required skills/knowledge.

The ultimate source from where this knowledge is transferred is also referred as Universal Mind. As per Wikipedia entry, the nature of Universal Mind is Omniscient (all knowing), Omnipotent (all powerful), Omnificent (all creative) and Omnipresent (always present).

I wonder, all attributes for Universal Mind are just a few (from many others) properties of Allah SWT (i.e. the God of Muslims). If these are not inspired by Quran, it seems, man's intellect is developing so fast that he is discovering the REALITIES by thinking at his own life and nature. The path is very interesting and highly appreciated, but I am worried, that it will take long to reach Him. It is also the right time for Muslim scholars to study new literature being produced under Psychology, Human Behaviour, Philosophy and Metaphysics in the light of Quran and Sunna. It will help us realize, in true sense, the significance of Revelation sent by Allah on his last prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). It will also help us leading these branches of knowledge. As we are in better position to interpret what is true in new literature and what are mere thoughts.

I see, most thoughts presented under Universal Mind are just small subset of Islamic Mysticism. But anyway, the new literature under psychology, philosophy, metaphysics, Universal Mind or Infinite Intelligence must be very helpful to understand, on intellectual basis, the work done by Molana Jilal-ul-Din Rumi (RTA), Hazrat Ba-Yazeed Bastami (RTA), etc. and the concept of spirituality in Islam, in general.

What is wrong with current world economic system

I just come up with very thought provoking and simple idea about the issue with current economic system of the world. I try to explain it using very simple story. The current system's objective criteria is, in one way or another, do implement heavy taxes on public (or pull money from their pockets in one way or another) so that they never get free from feeding themselves and never get time to think what is wrong with the system operating them.

This is done in multiple ways, for example:

1. By imposing heavy taxes on daily usable goods.

2. By the name of inflation.

First point is very clear. I want to share a simple thought on second. For example, a carpenter made a chair in one day that he sells at 100 PKR. Let he need food of his kids that cost him 100 PKR. So one chair value is equal to quantity of food which he need for one day (say 5 KG food, 20 PKR/KG).

Now logically speaking, he should always be able to buy 5 Kg of food by selling one chair (or his created value in one day). Let he sold a chair for 100 PKR, came to home, and given those 100 PKR to his wife for later use. In some other day (say, after 3 months), he took those 100 PKR from his wife and went to market to buy food.

The shopkeeper told him, now the food price is 25 PKR/KG. His requirement is 5 KG, so he must have to pay 125 PKR to purchase the 5 KG of food. Now the question is, where does his 25 PKR extra are going and why? In other words, the output of his hardwork worthy of 25PKR is snatching someone else.

Just think who is taking the fruit of his hard work of 25 PKR?

Its Not a People Problem but System

I listen people saying, Asif Zardari is currupt, he should be removed, he should be replaced by Nawaz Sharif or Imran Khan, etc.

I don't know why people fail to see that he is just a product of a system. There is nothing wrong with our politicians, its the system who allows them to do what they guys do. This is very basic thing, but must be understood first.

People say - but our politicians can change the system? I think, puppets never changed the system which grown them. Its designed in a way, that only new puppets can come up. At state level, change always happened from some external entities, for example in case of Iran, China, etc. And if an on-the-bus guy tried to do something unexpected, will be replaced in no time. And we guys are still waiting for the time when someone from our leaders will woke up. Are not we rational?

People looked Allama Iqbal with their own Lenses

In previous years, I read about 5 books written by Allama Ghulam Ahmad Parvez, because of his intellectual way of presenting things. No doubt, he was a great thinker. No matter what he presented or written, he always said that "its a human's effort, which might be wrong" so the people should think and then adopt. So he never claimed anything ever.

From his writings, Allam Parvez Sahib seems greatly inspired by Iqbal. He quote him in many of his books. Even I started believing that If I want to understand the philosophy of Iqbal's poetry, I should read Allama Pervez Sahib. But just couple of months earlier I come to know, I was wrong.

It happened when I read Israr-A-Khudi's urdu translation. It was the time when I actually understood whats really means by Khudee, the word with which I was familiar for last 10 years. Allama Parvez has presented Iqbal through his own lenses. He didn't advocated or presented the thoughts (as far I know) shared by Iqbal in Israr-A-Khudee, as they contradict with his own theories. I am sharing so that if someone is reading Allama Parvez Sahib, please don't think he will help you to understand Iqbal.

A Message to Muslims on Nationalism and Islam by a Western Historian

A few days back, in a program “AWAAM KI ADALAT” at GEO News, the topic under discussion was “Is establishment of Pakistan was a national struggle or an ideological”. A few “intellectuals” were trying hard to prove it national. Such debates at public forums are to set stage that if Pakistan further divide on the basis of Sindhi, Pakhtoon, Punjabi … that will be just OK. In Armed Forces Journal June 2006, Lieutenant-Colonel Peters proposed new map of the middle east on the same basis. Read more here.

It’s very clear these people are executing Zionists’ agenda (i.e. divide and conquer). The audience (as Awam) were clearly with other group whose point of view was its an ideological state.

Here I want to share a message from a well known western historian Prof. Arnold J. Toynbee, taken from his book “The World and The West”. It seems as he is giving this message to Muslims:

We are victim of our own ill trained unconsciousness

The things we repetitively do are fed into our unconsciousness. So how to train our unconsciousness is our own decision. But once its ill trained, we become victim of our own unconsciousness. Here I share a few thoughts about it.

There are different types of commitments we make, some are related to our self management, some related to our job, and others related to avoiding something. In this post, I discuss the commitments that we make to avoid something, for example avoiding doing injustice, fraud, unfair dealings, dating, and lying, etc. Sometime we make commitments but when we need to keep them up, we break it. In fact, we need strong arguments. In addition to argument trigger at good time, its more important we listen it , and reply consciously.

The things we repetitively do become part of our unconscious behavior. For example, if you always focus on good quality in all aspects of the life. With passage of time, you really don't need to focus quality explicitly. It becomes part of your unconscious behavior. For example, if you keep things in-order in your room for few months, with the passage of time, you will see when you put something without concentration, you will most probably keep it at proper place. It is also because of unconscious behaviour that you have developed in you.

We see people wasting great amount of time in movies, dating, unnecessary chats, doing unnecessary long meetings, watching glamorous channels, etc. And these are not the kids or illiterate, but sometime the educated ones. Then why it is so? I see, when people choose to do such things, they do not pass it into their brain filter. Brain (specifically our intellect, might be, its the KALB in religious literature) has ability to reject bad things. Then what we need is passion and arguments (in the form of believe or values) to transform that decision into reality. What happens is, when a new thought snippet is triggered, they choose to follow its dictation without passing it through intellect. After some years, the response to such events becomes reflective. The worst state is when someone choose not to filter because he know that his intellect will reject it. This is the point; people have senses (listening, speaking, thinking, seeing, deciding, etc.) but these are closed at that time, because they choose to keep them close.

We seen that our ill trained unconsciousness causes to generate reflective responses. Such responses are reflective, so our consciousness can’t see it until they occur. Like we pull our hand when it touches something hot, but our mind knows it latter. See, what Allah says about this in Quran, when He talks about Satan “Undoubtedly, he (Satan) and his tribe see you whence you see them not" [7, 27]. When Allah says to Satan about His true believers: “Verily, over My bondmen you have no control, save those misguided ones who follow you” [15, 42]. See how logical it is again, because those believers have trained their subconsciousness to reject the forbidden or delegate it to consciousness that have capability to analyze rationally. Because of past tendency to follow revealed guidelines (or some committed values), they also succeed in new cases.

People who fail, but admit the failure and ask Allah for forgiveness. Their true acceptance of the failure greatly helps them to pursue, learn, and remembers stronger arguments for the future fights. More they succeed in this fight, their believe increases and they learn to appreciate the value of revelation. The human's 'power to choose' is the only things that helps in this regard. And only Allah Almighty has the ultimate knowledge.

The loss of altered history

Quran suggest again and again to read and think on human history and learn lessons from it. Which shows, history is very important source to gain knowledge and wisdom. History explains what actions the past generations did and what they results into.

The media alters the minds of masses by hiding the facts. Although its loss for current generation is very high, but biggest loss for humanity is: a wide source of knowledge and gaining wisdom is being blurred. Not only particular groups are involved, but anyone who know the reality of a matter but hides it and write something which he knows is wrong, are equally responsible.

Today when we pick a book on history, we are not sure, is it correct what we are reading. The same will happen in future as we have taken no measures to ensure the correctness of written or broadcasted contents.

We as humans had failed to impose the rules so that its not done. We humans had failed to uplift our character and train the fellow beings so that everybody recognize his responsibility.

We should not learn more always

When we see there is a conference or a summit going on at some topic of our interest. We naturally feel we should attend to extend our knowledge, skills and imagination. But I am coming to point where I think, our this attitude is not right.

Sometime, we don't realize that we have reached where we need to implement things that we have learned, we need to practice well what we believe in, we should just implement the ideas we believe are great. When we find there is nothing (or not much) in our to-be-done queue, or we are well practising the things we learned earlier, only then we should go learning something new, attending a summit, a conference, or read books or blogs.

Because, learning new things gives food for ideas and increases imagination. No doubt, it is something great. But if we always keep ourselves in this cycle, we will not get enough time to ACT, which is the only required thing to create. And to do something great, what we need are ACTIONS and CONSISTENCY ... not thinking.

Thinking and learning new things has its own great value and is required to ensure our hard work is in smart direction, but once we have decided something, we MUST pause the thinking & learning process to achieve something great.

Do not perfect in the first go

Focusing on details is a great property of geeks, that sometimes (when not managed well) leads to making things perfect in the first go.

I have experienced, it sometime goes so worse, that it leads to withdrawal in the middle because, at sometime, we feel, we had spent much time and have not got enough results (no matter how best is the quality of what we have done so far).

In fact, best is the enemy of good.

Life is getting complex! Its time to define protocols

Internet is an extremely complex system but still operates successfully, why? Because it follows standards, called protocols (e.g. TCP, IP, SSL, UDP, UDDI, WSDL, POP, ICMP, ... ). So, if we want to run our lives successfully, we should define protocols that we ourself must follow.

Yes, its true, we are humans, not machines, but we can embed a degree of flexibility in the protocols too.

Defining these protocols include, we address following:
- Objectives, Principles and Values
- Plan (per day, year, and life)
- Processes (how to do/manage things to get best results)
- Preferences (e.g. DEEN, Health, Career, Family, Education, Enjoyment, etc.)

Definitely these protocols are more helpful at organizational level. As the organizational complexity is even greater. We will continue to get surprises if we are in something complex but not defining & implementing protocols.

Agenda-less Meetings Are Not Bad, After All Chaos Originate Innovation

Mostly, I feel uneasy while doing something unplanned or meeting someone unscheduled or discussing something without an agenda. Which mean I am more inclined towards order, management, determinism, and predictability.

But with passage of time, after having good (informal and agenda-less) meetings with my friends, I conclude when we discuss different, unplanned, random topics, or social matters, it causes sometime to identify creative way to manage a situation, and sometime entirely new and innovative idea. I see, it was started unordered and unplanned. Its something wonderful: Chaos gives birth to Innovation.

Am I taking it as it is? Have you experienced it?

In fact, it raises a few very fundamental questions:

1. Should we also plan to remain in an unplanned state?2. What are different strategies to make the unplanned-state more fruitful and enjoyable in-terms of output?

Pakistan Universities: The Labour and Scholar Factories

Our universities work on factory model. Put a student, get a labour or scholar. Labours learn writing software, designing circuit, and doing civil work, then go to industry and start doing what they have learned. Scholars are the people who learn, then start teaching and doing (theoretical) research to increase their publications. What I want to say is the business skills' gap in our education system.

For example, how better it would be if our BS(CS) also offer Software Economics, IT Entrepreneurship, E-Marketing, and Software Business Development, etc. over the technical skills they teach. And we must encourage the BS students to dream and work on their own ideas and real projects, which they later can continue as a business, an alternative to hunting a job. This is not limited to CS, all disciplines lack such subjects.

About scholars; doing research is extremely good. But I never understand THE SCIENCE BEHIND doing research to just increase the published research papers count. The most of these people never think of doing something practical, the applied research, which can originate a new industry. I wish we do research in areas which are important to us, for our country, and our nation. We must solve the real, no matter how small, problems of people around us.

I think, Entrepreneurship must be a required skill/subject of all disciplines. If we really want to see our country at a leading position, we need to understand the value of scientific business (no matter its related to Software, Agriculture, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics, etc.).

Computational Thinking: A New Emerging Area

Computer Science has taken a lot of concepts from human cognitive system; permanent memory, temporary memory, and processing are a name of few. Although computer was made by human, but with passage of time, a great number of new models of problem solving stepped into CS, which helped making computer a smart and powerful device.

"Computational thinking involves solving problems, designing systems, and understanding human behaviour, by drawing from the concepts fundamental to computer science". Basically scientists has realized a great value for all humans if they learn to think like a computer scientists. CS is not just a programming (as it is normally understood), but its fundamentally about thinking and problem solving.

For example, thinking at multiple level of abstraction is equally important for a designer, mathematicians, and a computer programmer. There are so many other concepts like Decomposition, Generalization, Specialization, Instance, Aliasing, etc. which can help us all to understand and think more better. Scientists are thinking to add computational thinking to every child's analytical ability.

Logic is a Binary Property

Logic is binary property, I mean we can be logical or not (i.e. 1 or 0). We can't afford partial logic in life. And 'Logic' is an AND function, by which I mean, If we make 4 decisions, say A-D, some logical and others illogical (given we make all consciously). Like:

A: Logical

B: Logical

C: Logical

D: Illogical

The function "A && B && C && D" will results into 'Illogical', and this result shows our general behaviour towards life. I further add, all unjustifiable actions are illogical, no matter they are made consciously or unconsciously. (Actions based on divine guideline are exception, theoretically they are also justifiable but everybody cant' understand in so depth). So taking divine guideline as natural realities is a good strategy to stay away from real illogical actions.

So we should not practice partial logic in life, i.e. being logical in one dimension and illogical in the other. We CAN perform both behaviours (logical and illogical). BUT partial logic may kill us.

A few months back, I read news about some US soldiers (deployed at Iraq) become psychological patients and did really strange actions when they returned. I think, its because they could not convince themselves for the actions they did in Iraq i.e. they practiced illogic intentionally (after all they were REQUIRED to do so). I feel, I can't discuss this topic in more depth, its a great research topic for the psychologists.
